NEHC Women - Week 10 Release

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, January 16. Brooke Greenwood (Brampton, Ont.) of Castleton University earned Player of the Week honors. Norwich University's Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.) and University of Southern Maine's Madison Chagnon (St Albans, Vt.) were honored as Goaltender and Rookie of the Week respectively.

 

Player of the Week

Brooke Greenwood – Castleton University
(Junior, Forward – Brampton, Ont.)

Greenwood scored her first career hat-trick and assisted on a fourth goal in Castleton's 5-2 win over NEC Saturday. Her third goal proved to be the eventual game-winner, she shared a team-best +5 +/- with two other players and she won 18/23 faceoffs.

 

Goaltender of the Week

Leocadia Clark – Norwich University
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Stowe, Vt.)

Clark made a career-high 32 saves to backstop Norwich to a 2-1 win over UMass Boston in a game the Cadets were outshot. Clark made all 15 saves in the first period to keep NU in the game after being outshot 15-5 by the Beacons in the opening frame. Clark is 5-0-0 on the season and stayed perfect in her career, improving to 10-0-0 all-time.

 

Rookie of the Week

Madison Chagnon – University of Southern Maine
(Freshman, Forward – St Albans, Vt.)
In the Huskies' 5-4 win over Worcester State, freshman Madison Chagnon lit up, scoring four goals including two power play goals and the game-winner. With the four goals, Chagnon became just the fifth player to score four or more goals in a game in USM Women's Ice Hockey History.

 

Honor Roll


Morgan Mordini – Elmira College
(Senior, Forward – North Attleboro, Mass.)

Mordini tallied four points on the weekend to help No. 3 Elmira remain unbeaten in the NEHC. Mordini added an assist in Friday's win against Southern Maine and finished off the weekend with a goal and two assists against Salem State on Saturday. Mordini leads EC with 18 assists this season.

 

Haley McKim – University of Southern Maine
(Sophomore, Goaltender – Moncton, N.B.)

McKim led the Huskies to two victories this week. In a 5-4 win over Worcester State, McKim made 18 saves. In a loss against nationally ranked Elmira, McKim made 46 saves for a .92 save percentage and stopped a penalty shot in the loss. McKim ended the week with a clean sheet against NEHC opponent William Smith, making 37 saves in the win.
