NEHC Women's Weekly Honors - Week Ten
MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, January 26th. New England College’s Olivia Lindberg (Stockholm, Sweden) earned Player of the Week honors. Salve Regina’s Taylor Hannafan (Winnetka, Ill.) was tabbed Goaltender of the Week while William Smith’s Bella Hacker (Burlington, Mass.) garnered Rookie of the Week accolades.
Player of the Week
Olivia Lindberg - New England College
(Junior, Forward - Stockholm, Sweden)
Lindberg tallied five points on two goals and three assists in a pair of overtime games against Salem State this weekend. After the Vikings jumped out to a 3-0 lead on Friday night, Lindberg had a hand in all three Pilgrims goals to send the game to OT. Lindberg scored the first two before assisting on the game-tying score with just seven seconds left in regulation. In the rematch on Saturday, Lindberg assisted on the game-tying goal in the third period before assisting on the game-winner one minute into overtime. The junior now sits inside the top-10 in the conference in points with 13 on the season.
Goaltender of the Week
Taylor Hannafan - Salve Regina University
(Freshman, Goaltender - Winnetka, Ill.)
Hannafan made a total of 75 saves in Salve Regina's two victories over Elmira College this week. The first-year netminder stopped 38 of 39 shots on Friday before recording a 37-save clean sheet to collect her first career shutout en route to a 1-0 win on Saturday. She finished the week with an impressive .987 save percentage and .50 goals against average.
Rookie of the Week
Bella Hacker - William Smith College
(Freshman, Forward - Burlington, Mass.)
Hacker had three points on a goal and two assists in a 2-1-0 week for the Herons. On Tuesday at Hamilton, she had an assist on Colleen Quirk's power-play goal. On Saturday, she had the game-tying goal with 5.9 seconds remaining in regulation. The next day, Hacker scored the game-winning goal in overtime to help William Smith complete a weekend sweep of Vermont State Castleton.
HONOR ROLL
Erin Murray - William Smith College
(Senior, Goaltender - Hanover, Mass.)
Murray was 2-1-0 in goal for the Herons this week, posting a 2-1-0 record with a 1.31 GAA and a .957 save percentage. In two conference games against Vermont State Castleton, Murray stopped 59 of the 60 shots that she faced as the Herons defeated the Spartans in overtime twice. On Sunday, she recorded a shutout stopping all 29 shots she faced. Murray has six shutouts this season, matching William Smith's single-season shutout mark. She also matched the Herons' career shutout mark on Sunday with the 11th of her career.
Christmas Johnson - Albertus Magnus College
(Sophomore, Goaltender - Winnipeg, Manitoba)
Johnson set a career-high record with 57 saves in a tie with UMass Boston on Friday. On Saturday, she stopped 36 of the 38 shots she faced, finishing with a .969 save percentage for the week.
